So far we have only made two trips to the far east and southern hemisphere but our visit to Singapore, New Zealand and Australia in February and March 2020 was a much anticipated and planned for 'trip of a lifetime'. Even though it was cut short by the advent of Covid 19, it fully lived up to expectations and confirmed our intention to one day return if time and circumstance permit.
Then there is Japan or perhaps China... Will they be on our 'bucket list' one day?
Singapore seemed rather like an imagined city of the future to us, modern, slick and built for cars rather than walking. Shortly after arrival we purchased a two day tour bus ticket and began to explore. The Gardens by the Bay were high on our list of must sees and didn't disappoint, particularly the sound and light show as dusk descended.
We managed to take in Chinatown (fresh from celebrating the Year of the Rat), Little India, Marina Bay and on our final day, the Botanical Gardens. Apart from Chinatown and Little India, trying to walk anywhere was a curious exercise in navigating a path through and between endless shopping malls!
