Below is a basic outline of the course to run for 10 two hour sessions. The New CLAiT 2006 program should provide students with basic skills in designing and building a web site in Dreamweaver. It is not intended as a ‘technical’ course for aspects of web programming or techniques such as Flash – which are covered on other courses offered and at the City & Guilds level. The complete course ‘manual’, incorporating information sheets, tasks sheets and other useful material can be found on this site which you will be asked to access from the class computers and you may also access from home.

Week One

Student logins, Taking class pictures, Course introduction, Raw HTML exercise, Introduction to Dreamweaver - Workspace and first page(s).

   
Week Two

First steps in Dreamweaver. The Workspace. Site setup wizard. Start Venice site exercise

   
Week Three

Build Venice site pages. Add images, use links to large images. External links.
Moving your site between different PCs - targetting web folders.

   
Week Four

Complete Venice site (add own extra page to Venice site). Tabular page setting techniques. Adding a background image. Start Prague site. Printing evidence pages.

   
Week Five

Review Venice site completion and techniques. Continue/finish Prague site.
Basic Cascading Style Sheets for text. Print Evidence pages.
Introduce ‘Amelia’s Blooms’ homework/practice task or 'My own site' project.

   
Half Term If you are doing the My Own Site brief, please look at the tasks below
   
Week Six

Learners complete Prague site with tutor assistance only as required. Complete/review Amelia Blooms (homework) task. Complete/revise with tutor assistance. Use site Checklist, Print evidence pages.

   
Week Seven

Checking learner progress. Review of printing assessment evidence sheets. Mock Assessment Week (provisional).

   
Week Eight
Mock Assessment week. Mock assessment under exam conditions. Review, revise.
   
Week Nine
Final Assessment week 1. First attempt at Assessment. No tutor assistance. Assessments will be marked and result given by the end of the session if possible.
   
Week Ten
Final Assessment week 2 . Retake of Assessment if necessary. No tutor assistance. Assessments will be marked and result given by the end of the session if possible.
